How to set up a new item in Walmart seller center?
Sellers can use Walmart's Single Item Setup options to quickly add individual items in Seller Center. There are two main ways to set up an item:
Searching Walmart's existing catalog for the item.
Creating a new item using the Single Item Create tool.
This guide covers setting up a completely new item, not yet offered on Walmart. You can save item drafts for 30 days, allowing time to gather necessary details.
Step 1: Navigate to Add Items
In Seller Center, go to Product Catalog in the left navigation menu and select Items. From the Add Items dropdown, select Add a single item.
Step 2: Enter product identifier
Type or paste the product identifier (e.g., GTIN, ISBN, UPC) in the text box provided.
If the item is new: Click Add it here to open the Item Create dashboard.
If the item exists in the catalog: Click Yes, this is it to match to existing item details. You’ll still need to create a unique SKU for the item, as SKUs are seller-specific.
Note: If this item already exists in your catalog, the SKU will automatically populate.
Step 3: Enter item content
In the Item Create tool, select the ID type from the dropdown and enter the identifier in the text box.
If not matched: Enter essential details, such as Item Name and Category. Additional fields will appear based on the category selected. Refer to the Item Categorization Guide if needed.
Fill in the required attributes for the item. Walmart recommends completing both required and optional attributes to improve discoverability.
Item Attribute Tips:
Hover over the blue circle icon (i) next to each attribute for a definition.
Use the + Add option for specific fields, such as Key Features or Fabric Materials, to add multiple values.
Step 4: Add images in the Imagery & Media tab
Go to the Imagery & Media tab and click Add Images.
Select Image from the dropdown, and upload images from your computer.
Set the Primary Image by selecting Set as primary under the Actions column. This is the image that will appear first on the item page and in search results.
If you have more than three images, arrange their display order using the Rank column. Note that the Primary Image is not ranked.
Step 5: Complete item offer details
Click on the Offer tab and fill in required attributes such as Selling Price and Shipping Weight.
Add any additional information relevant to the item offer.
Tip: As you complete each section, a green checkmark will appear, indicating completion.
Step 6: Submit the item
Once all relevant attributes are filled, and the tabs show green checkmarks, the Submit Item button will activate. Click the blue Submit Item button at the bottom of the page to finalize your new item setup.
